A nutritious addition also to gluten-free porridge!
The naturally gluten-free and highly nutritious amaranth flake is ideal for e.g. for making porridges, side dishes or desserts. An organic, truly healthy choice - we highly recommend it. Amaranth is a very digestible seed plant that was the daily food of the ancient Aztecs.
Amaranth (Amaranthus caudatus) is a cereal plant native to South America, where it grows in the Andean region at an altitude of about 1000-1500 meters. The plant grows to 3.5 meters in size and grows 40,000 to 60,000 seeds during its lifetime. The Incas used amaranth in all their sacred rituals because they considered it the excellent fruit of the “mother earth”.
Amaranth seeds have been found in 4,000-year-old tombs. Our amaranth is grown in the high mountains of the Andes in the Arequipa region of southern Peru, famous for the deepest canyons in the world.
Use: Boil with water and let simmer for 20-30 minutes. 1 part amaranth and 2.5 parts liquid, some nut/seed milk can be used as the liquid in addition to water. The taste can be added, for example, with cinnamon, salt and the sweetness can be brought from coconut sugar or Finnish birch sugar.
