Mesilä’s honey bees were initially recruited to pollinate a garden in Espoo. The honey bees would pollinated zucchini flowers, helping to create delicacies for dinner guests in Helsinki restaurants. Now the honey bees collect their bounty both in forests and meadows, away from highways and centers of population, as well as at bee farms in the Helsinki area. The honey is harvested and extracted by hand.
