Cashew Nuts Change the World!
In Burkina Faso, the cooperatives that produce our cashew nuts employ local people at a decent wage in the cultivation, peeling, post-processing and packaging of the nuts. More than 3,000 families derive their income from the cultivation of these organic cashews.
The production of cashew nuts is part of a social project that supports local agriculture and ensures a fair distribution of income, i.e., that both nut growers and peelers receive a fair return for their good work.
Much of the work on cashew nuts is peeling, which is exceptionally done locally – when usually cashew nuts are sent to be peeled thousands of miles away to India or Vietnam. With these feel good nuts, work and wages remain with the cooperatives of local small farmers.
In addition, special attention is paid to occupational safety in the production of Aduki’s cashew nuts. To achieve the highest quality, the nuts are peeled one by one by hand. The peelers have specially made gloves on their hands, through which the strong substances secreted by the nuts do not irritate the hands.
The production of these mind-blowing nuts is certified as organic and Fair Trade. Decent working conditions and fair compensation for good work, in turn, have been taken into account in the Fair Trade rules, in accordance with which these excellent nuts have been produced.
Energy production also takes place locally: energy is obtained from the nutshells. Because the production is organically certified, environmental aspects have been carefully considered.
