Djusie by Katja Kokko - natural cosmetics for a better world
Djusie was founded because Katja wanted to use all the know-how she had developed over her 20-year career to build a brand that combined her vision of the perfect skincare range and that would look and feel just like her. From the beginning, she believed she could create a range with strong international potential. Moreover, it has always been important to Katja that she can contribute something meaningful and good to this world through her work.
Juicy, clear and vibrant skin with Djusie products
Those who have been following Katja Kokko for a while will know her views on skin hydration and she is a well-known advocate of moisturizers, mild acids and facial oils - one of the keys to luscious looking skin. So Djusie's products are aimed at juicy, glowing and vibrant skin.
- The underlying philosophy is that the products should not contain anything unnecessary for the skin or the product's function, and that every ingredient must be transparently justified," says Katja Kokko.
- It's self-evident that the products are certified natural cosmetics and priced so that no unreasonable compromises are made in quality, but they should still be available to as many people as possible.
The most important thing about Djusie products, which have a diamond price/quality ratio, is that they are functional and work, i.e. they do what they promise.
- They have great-feeling formulations, but effectiveness takes precedence over skin feel. Still, it's important that the products are also enjoyable to use and smell good - but effectiveness also takes precedence over smell," says Kokko.
The scents of the first three products are examples of this. The essential oils chosen not only energize the mind, but also have skin care properties that make them ideal for a cleansing product. Acid Bloom, on the other hand, does not contain essential oils, as there is no justification for adding oil-soluble substances to a water-based product of this kind, otherwise the product would also need a solubiliser, a surfactant that is completely useless for the skin. That's why Acid Bloom honestly has a scent of its active ingredients, namely apple cider vinegar, reishi and gotu kola. The essential oils in Fruit Glaze face oil were chosen by Katja purely for their skincare benefits, but they also contribute to the product's subtle and mild fragrance. Each ingredient is therefore carefully considered in terms of what it will do for the skin.
Skincare rituals to treat and pamper
The whole is complemented by rituals created around each product, based on knowing how to use them correctly to get the most out of them. Another important aspect is that it's not enough to apply products to the skin externally, as they only affect the surface of the skin, the epidermis.
- Manual treatment is able to act deeper into the tissues, which plays an important role in skin metabolism, lymphatic circulation and elasticity of connective tissues.
This is why facial massage and other manual treatments are Djusie's skin care rituals, where Katja draws on her expertise as a cosmetologist and her knowledge of Chinese medicine, which she is currently studying.
The minimalist Djusie range works small miracles
The first three Djusie products were conceived at the same time with the aim of creating a minimalist, three-product skincare routine that can be supplemented with additional products as needed for the condition of the skin.
Katja had a clear vision for the cleansing oil:
- It must be silky, thin, effectively cleanse water-resistant makeup and rinse off effortlessly with water. The emulsifier must not be too much, so as not to damage the skin's hydrolipidic film.
The fragrance was inspired by a cleansing balm recipe Katja created for her debut book, using the same essential oils, but fine-tuning the scent for the final product. A mild, acidic conditioner was a no-brainer for Katja, as the perfect acidic conditioner was not yet available on the natural cosmetics market. In addition to acids, Katja had known the active ingredients in the conditioner for a long time: she had been passionate about adaptogenic mushrooms internally for years and knew she would use them in her own products if she ever built her own line. The feel of the product on the skin was also clear: a slightly thick liquid that doesn't leave the skin too sticky, although a slight sensation of humectants is bound to remain on the skin.,
Katja definitely wanted a squalane base for the face oil, as there is a long list of benefits of squalane for the skin. In addition, preventing pigmentation, reducing impurities and brightening the skin were the functional goals of this product. For the active ingredients, they wanted ingredients with proven efficacy not often seen in other products, such as rosehip seed oil and a compound created by acai-berry oil and bisabolol.
The value for money of the Djusie range is second to none!
Djusie products combine vision, experience and expertise in skin care, ingredients, product efficacy and formulations, and therefore offer excellent value for money.
Through Katja's product development work with a top chemist, ideas have been put into practice so that the product promises are truly fulfilled.
- In the future, Djusie's active ingredients will focus even more on Finnish adaptogenic fungi in particular, but also on carefully selected other active ingredients from abroad. In addition, the brand as a whole is something that has never been seen before. Djusie is a boldly different, surprising and colourful wayfarer who wants to communicate not only her juicy skin but also the humanity of life and the fact that everyone has a purpose in the world, everyone is beautiful and important and everyone should be proud of their own individuality - each of us is a living example of natural beauty," says Katja Kokko.
