COSMOS ORGANIC Certificate
The COSMOS standard AISBL is a non-profit international association, founded by BDIH, Cosmebio, Ecocert, ICEA and the Soil Association. The association has created a COSMOS standard, awarding two types of certificates for natural and organic cosmetics products: COSMOS NATURAL and COSMOS ORGANIC. The COSMOS ORGANIC certificate requires more organically produced ingredients than the COSMOS NATURAL certificate.
COSMOS ORGANIC certification criteria for:

at least 95% of the product’s agricultural ingredients must be organic

at least 20% of the product’s ingredients must organic (for rinse-off products, at least 10% must be organic)

nanomaterials, genetically engineered ingredients and irradiation are prohibited

palm oil must be organic or CSPO certified

the fabric of the packaging material must be 100% organic
-
direct and indirect environmental impacts of packaging activities must be minimized
-
an environmental management plan must be drawn up
