Carotenoids - derived from the Latin word carota 'carrot' - are natural pigments found in the green particles of plants. The best known source of carotenoids is beta-carotene.

Among the carotenoids, beta, alpha, gamma carotene and beta-cryptoxanthin are converted into vitamin A in the human and animal body.

After spirulina, carrots have the second highest content of carotenoids at 99 mg/100 g. Carotenoids help protect skin cells from the sun's UV radiation. It also promotes tanning.

Among its many other benefits, sea buckthorn is also known for its skin health benefits. Sea buckthorn oil, for example, is rich in carotenes and vitamins C and E, which in turn support normal skin functioning.

Together with sea buckthorn, carrot powder is therefore a summer product.

Use:

Mix 2 tsps in smoothie.
