Delicious, dried, stoneless dateDate palm, or Mediterranean date palm, is a tree whose cultivation is traced back to 4000 BC. The original area of origin of dates is impossible to determine, but it is likely to be North Africa or the Gulf region. Dates are imported from North Africa, Iran, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Date fruits are 'boneberries' that grow in bunches and are an excellent source of potassium. Try dates with Brie on a cheese plate, chopped in couscous, in breakfast porridge or as a snack on their own.
PS: Dates also contain carotenoids, zinc and vitamins K and E.
